Getting to Know Us

about faith house

Yes, we are a church; but a church is not a building,

or a gathering of religious people who are morally superior to others, or a place that requires a membership card. We are a community of people of diverse ages, ethnicities, personalities, interests, and talents, who are unified by one thing; a common belief in Jesus Christ as the Savior we need and the Lord we are called to serve.

We are an independent, non-denominational Christian church.

We are affiliated with the Calvary Chapel Association of churches, a fellowship of churches that share a common basis of doctrine and faith.

We hope the information on our site will help you learn more about who we are and what we do; but the best way is to join us as we worship and fellowship together.  We trust that when you do, you will be welcomed with the genuine love of God in His people.

Pastor Patrick Kilmer

"God values every person -- so much so that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for us -- for me and you! My passion is to help as many people as possible know Jesus Christ, what He has done for us, and why He is our only hope.  How do we do that?  We worship God together because He is worthy; we study God's Word because it is our source for Truth; we trust the Holy Spirit to help us grow and live and serve because we love Jesus and want our lives to reflect it.  We do this as God's people, called together to be united purpose, loving and encouraging one another.

Whether or not you consider yourself a Christian, we invite you to join us.  You will be welcomed and you will be loved.  Maybe you've gone to church, but the experience left you hurt or disillusioned.  I can't promise we won't make mistakes; after all, none of us is perfect.  However, our shortcomings are the very reason we need God's grace, and He will never fail us."

Patrick and his wife, Cynthia, have been happily married for 30 years. She has her own calling as an elementary school teacher. They are blessed with two children, Bejana & Greyson.  If he’s not studying or hanging out with his family, Patrick is probably doing something related to sports or home improvement.

OUR MISSION

Know God

The Word of God is the foundation of our worship and fellowship. God has given us the Bible so we can know Him and His plan for us. The Holy Spirit leads us in Truth as we study the Word. Growing in our knowledge and understanding of the Word helps us grow in our relationship with God. It also transforms us, making us more like Christ, as our minds are renewed.

Grow in Grace

We encourage everyone to seek to grow spiritually, to discover their spiritual gifts, and to exercise their gifts to bless the church and glorify Jesus Christ. This is the purpose of the church; to equip believers for service, and to promote unity within the body. Each member has the privilege and responsibility to be a reflection of God’s grace.

Show the Love of Christ

All believers are called to love. It is the fruit of the Spirit in our lives, it is our response to God’s love, and it serves as a witness to an unbelieving world. We show others the love of Jesus Christ through the witness of our lives as well as through the message we share.

Our mission is to know God and make Him known; to live in a manner worthy of Christ, and to encourage each other to do likewise. Jesus said that one attribute should distinguish his followers: LOVE.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe God is triune: all three persons coeternal and equal.  We believe Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is fully God and fully man.  He was preexistent with the Father, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, crucified under Pontius Pilate, and resurrected by the power of God.

We believe human beings, created good, nonetheless disobeyed God and fell.  Furthermore, humans, sinful in nature, cannot save themselves or be reconciled to God on the basis of their good works.  We believe that reconciliation was initiated by God and based solely upon the atoning death of Christ on the cross.  We believe the Bible is the Word of God, trustworthy and authoritative for every area of life.

We believe the Holy Spirit calls, separates and sanctifies believers, enabling them to bear fruit in Christian works, not as a means of earning salvation, but as demonstration of the power of God in the life of an individual or a community.  We believe God has called every Christian to some kind of ministry.  The job of the church is to equip its people for these works of service, to build up the Body of Christ, and carry the gospel to uttermost parts of the world.

OUR HISTORY

Called to join the staff of Warehouse Christian Ministries (Sacramento) in 1986, Patrick Kilmer enjoyed the privilege of serving as an Associate Pastor in a variety of capacities, growing in experience and seeing God’s blessing on his life and ministry. After 20+ years of dedicated service at Warehouse Christian Ministries, Patrick and his wife, Cynthia, began to feel the call of God to Elk Grove, a community outside Sacramento where they had lived and raised their family since 1990.  The rapid growth of the city, Cynthia’s teaching career (and ministry) in the local school district, and their increasing connection with people of the community through their kids’ school activities all contributed to their sense that the Lord had been preparing them for a new outreach in Elk Grove.

In January of 2009, with the blessing of Warehouse Christian Ministries, Patrick and Cynthia started Warehouse Christian Ministries of Elk Grove, desiring to continue to faithfully serve by teaching the Word of God and sharing His love with the lost, as well as building up a community of believers in wisdom, maturity, and unity who are filled with God’s Spirit, and have a passion to grow in Christ and to be living witnesses of God’s grace.

In January of 2019, the church name was changed to Faith House Fellowship to better reflect who we are and what we are about.
